We spent the July 4th holiday with family, and left for Astoria on
July 18th. We headed down river, then to Coos Bay, OR after spending a
couple days in Astoria. Coos Bay was a 35 hour run with 10-15 knot winds.

The lower Columbia River is constantly being dredged to maintain the channel depth needed for the big ships.

'Essayons' is a Corps of Engineers ship that services the lower Columbia River delta. It sneeks up on us, and turns just when we don't expect it :)
