Tucson's Desert Museum

Once back in the USA we could see dollars at work.  Irrigation, land use planning, community pride were so evident.  It was no longer the third world known as Mexico.  Tucson's Desert Museum is a must-see stop.  We loved the opportunity to be up close to many of the birds we had seen in Mexico.

George enjoys the view in Sabino Canyon northeast of Tucson.

Sue poses as a sugaro cactus.

The cactus wren is the Arizona state bird.

Cholla cactus blooms in May.

A prickley pear cactus blooms at Boyce Arboretum.

A pig-like javalina passes at the Desert Museum.

The Sugaro National Park is a favorite stop in Tucson.

The hummingbird aviary allows for close encounters.

This Black-Hooded Oriole is one of many bird types seen at the Desert Museum Aviary.
