San Francisco

Rounding Pt. Reyes lighthouse we had our first distant view of the Golden Gate Bridge.  San Francisco affords sailors a superb playground to enjoy the sport.  We took family and friends out to enjoy what is close to our hearts.

Pt. Reyes lighthouse foreshadowed rounding the last cape to San Francisco.

Sue loved seeing the bird colonies at Pt. Reyes. Notice her Mustang Survival Suit that she wore offshore.

At Drake's Bay we laughed at our first wet landing. Notice Sue's life preserver inflated when we dunked in the surf.

We had our sails up, but needed the motor going under the Golden Gate Bridge.

Lots of sailboats on the playground in front of 'The Gate'.

Sailboats in front of 'The Gate' as the wind started to pick up.

Sue sailed from Sausalito to Alameda at 7 knots boat speed. Heehawww!

Dream Chaser was double-reefed in 20+ knots of wind, and the boat speed was 7+ knots! She was on a beam reach and comfortably heeling.

'The Rock' (Alcatraz) still haunts SF Bay.

Terri and Esbon were aboard for a sailing evening

Holy Batman, there are some America's Cup yachts at Treasure Island!

Aunt Christine with Jonathan playing aboard Dream Chaser.

With Ted's bridge work with CALTRANS we had to get a look at the East Bay Bridge construction.
