Oregon South in 2008

Our 2008 trip to Mexico started on September 1st, heading down the Columbia River, crossing the Columbia Bar at 11:30pm, sailing down the coast in light winds, ending in Coos Bay, Oregon at 9:00am on September 3rd.  A gale sat on Cape Blanco for 5 days before we were able to move south in confused seas.

George and Sue motoring down the Columbia River.

Leaving Portland on 09/01 starts with going through the Vancouver Railroad Bridge.

Bill Murdock crewed with us from Portland to San Francisco. Bill's experience and good demeanor were welcome additions to this leg south.

A thousand fishing boats lined the Columbia as we went down stream.

Sue's geraniums have logged nearly 500 miles!

A common sight is the laundromat in port!

Gale flags in Coos Bay indicate strong winds off Cape Blanco, OR. A five-day delay was necessary.
